I was watching this film years ago and just as it got to a really scary bit the bulb flew out of the ceiling light above me, I nearly had a heart attack.

The idea of the dead person being brought back was used in the episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Dawn did a spell to bring their mother back but Buffy, coming to the same realization as the man in this story, breaks it just as Joyce comes to the door. Very creepy and effective.

As a child, I remember this story being told on the radio in the UK by the Man in Black. He had a deep baritone voice and it was very scary. He told a different story every week.

RushMama2112, I remember reading the story at school. Buffy writers probably nicked the idea. Lots of American shows use borrowed plots. I recall one episode of Bonanza was based on Hamlet. Knew exactly what was going to happen from the beginning.

I have taught this horror story to many students. The story is interesting really. It seems that the monkey's paw has supernatural powers but on the other side we can feel that all the things happened by chance. Mrs. White thinks that Her son has come back.
