the WPA employed artists to paint beautiful public murals in those court houses, schools and libraries. The Ada County Courthouse in Boise had some of these murals and I loved to see them growing up in Boise. The children's library in the basement of the Carnegie Library had a replica of the birth of Venus in full detail, nowaday there would be parents protesting to have it removed. Venus was, as they say, "necked" riding a shell surrounded by necked cupids. SHOCKING! I thought it was beautiful.
