MammaPet0716, for my 15th birthday I got a small (about a foot square) portable record player. There was a lever under the turntable and it could play 78s, 45s, and LPs/33 1/3. I used it for years and then gave it to my little sis.

My mom, before she had met my dad; worked for Columbia Records in Hollywood (Los Angeles) California. In my 20’s I would see these 33s and 78s lying around, artists like Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, etc. My parents have moved quite a few times and currently my mom is 91 years old, I am nearing 70, and just the other day I asked my mom, what happened to those old LP’s you had? She responded, “I don’t know”. I mentioned, “You know , “you worked at Columbia Records”. Did I work at there? What’s Columbia Records? I am so sad!
