My first job was for for North American Aviation in El Segundo, California. I had to deliver some documents to an office in the main building. I got lost in the huge building and opened a very large double door. I took a few steps forward and realized I wa standing on a catwalk high above the beautiful X-15 rocket plane. it was a stunning experience!

I applied to the Air Force Academy seeking to become a pilot. Denied because of slight astigmatism which I think is a focusing problem. I could have been a navigator but I foolishly declined the opportunity. How I wish I could have become an astronaut. I was 14 in 1969 (Woodstock, Neil Armstrong and the Moon landing on the Sea of Tranquility). Interesting that I play guitar and know some Jimi Hendrix songs (Woodstock).
