The San Andreas Fault runs in a huge circle around the Pacific Ocean with active volcanoes adjacent to it. It is known as "The Circle of Fire." At it's lowest point it goes between North and South Island in New Zealand, hobbit land.

California has a lot of people that are at "fault" for a lot of things wrong with the state and many issues affecting the national political scene.

I live near the New Madrid fault in Missouri. However I am not worried about faults. When 'Yellowstone' decides to BLOW it will be catastrophic...like a hydrogen 💥 bomb and then some

I wouldn't want to live there necessarily, but I'd love to visit.

Michele , it runs north/south, east of highway 101 but west of i5. if you go drive highway 46 from Paso Robles to Lost Hills you will see it on the side of the mountain/hills.
it also separated the pinnacles national monument entrances (east side and west side) by 50 miles over the millenia or however long it took- thousands of years.
highly active but pretty harmless considering it's so active (think of a soda. if you shake it- it's under pressure and when you open the cap it will blow up major. but if you open the cap little bits- it releases the co2 and there is no major explosion - the fault has constant tiny releases so its potential is relatively small) it will top out at a 7.0 on the potential scale. other faults (one east of i5 , can't remember the name) rarely gets releases and small quakes- so it's building tons of pressure like the shaken soda bottle. it will be a bad one when it releases. it runs thru Oregon and Washington as well. it will isolate Seattle if and when it goes.

San Andreas fault is the most studied fault line there is. due to its constant activeness - they are able to do some pretty impressive data collections on it and because of it we have an early warning system for earthquakes.
funny enough, a lot of people think this fault is a Cali killer - but it is not. because it's so active, it releases a lot of stress and it's potential is only around a 7.0.
the silent killer faultline is running thru Seattle down on the east side of i-5. it doesn't have much movement so it's bound and building more and more pressure (I don't remember it's name). when it blows, it will be icky.
fun fact. if a major eq hits Cali, a lot of people (and my young daughter) believe that the coast of Cali will break off and sink into the ocean. nope. the stable continental shelf will protect the Cali coastline and the rest of the country will sink before monterey ever does. lol.

LordMetalBeard, it's no one's fault 🤣
