A large number of farmers that lived near the Mississippi river would take up commerial fishing. What didn't sell they would put on their fields for fertilizer. The state DNR had them stop the practice due bald eagles wouldn't migtrate. The available food made it so they would stay year round. You would drive by a farmers field and see 50 bald eagles feeding! Quite the sight!

I once counted Bald Eagles on the 'RIVER'...lost count at around 50...that's where grew up...
