How terrible that those 50 men were imprisoned and forced into hard labor for standing up for their own and others safety of work environment, even moreso since it had, and could've certainly killed and injured civilians again.

German soldiers in WW11 said they were only following orders as well. Americans are taught to think for themselves . The order was wrong no matter what.

Caopolican, and they didn't think about safety the way we do today. You can find contemporary footage of the construction of Grand Coulee Dam that shows men standing on girders being lowered all the way down, so they could guide the crane operator. No harness, no safety at all. Today, some supervisors would be getting the axe!

constantgamer0421, service members are not guaranteed a safe working environment by definition. The service members who stormed Normandy right around this time would have been mutinous to refuse orders. Having these munitions stuck at port could cost the lives of thousands of service members and civilians in war zones.
