What is a person called who collects dolls?

Doll collections are seriously creepy. Those dead eyes. Yuk!

That explanation is waffle . It does not explain why it is a plangonologist. Or what that means

It could be that the dolls come to life at night and terrorize the neighborhood children. Creepy doll collectors.

From the Greek 'plangon' or 'plaggon' for doll. Women were once not allowed to perform in Greek plays and so, a wax doll (plaggon) would be used in their stead.

It doesn’t have to be creepy. I started collecting dolls when I was a child and started dance classes. I was fascinated by the different National costumes and 50years later still have my “dolls from different countries”. Now I can share them with my students so they can also learn how every country has its own costume and style of dance.

I couldn't see any clue from the word as to what it was.

When I was a kid, my Uncles travelled the world (one as a hobby and one as a physio for a football team) and they used to bring me back dolls from all the places they visited. I still have them over 50 years later and have added to my collection by making some of my own porcelain dolls.
