My husband was lucky enough to have met Fred Gwynne when he was a kid. He said that he was such a nice guy and although freaked out by the encounter Fred went out of his way to comfort and reassure him not to be scared. lol

Great television. The networks could improve ratings by producing more family friendly shows.

Ah, the price of fame. He was a good actor, his first film was "On the Waterfront", Best Film of 1954, yet his legacy rests on the TV show. At least, he had a last hurrah: his last film was "My Cousin Vinny", where he was brilliant.

I watched "The Munsters" when I was a kid and that viscous Spot underneath the stairs scared me. My favorite episode was "The Most Beautiful Ghoul in the World". Lily opened a salon and her machines went haywire extracting hair.

I used to like the Addams family above all other.. But every time I watched it and more. Of their lives began to show I. Enjoyed the more. On halloween, last year we had a Munster costume 🥳 you would not believe some of the costumes came as and of course the winners were a couple Herman and Lily. Lily was 👏

Wonderful classic and hysterically funny sitcom. You have an ultraconservative nuclear family except they all look like monsters and act really weird if not altogether monstrous. They also had a nice but gorgeous niece who, of course, was the black sheep of the family.

# Sandy1956 #, they tried to do a reboot of the show but unfortunately it wasn't the same thing as the original version of the Munsters Herman and grandpa characters didn't have the same chemistry as Fred and Al had jmo

I dated the sister of Eddie Munster. The credits showed his name as "Eddie Patrick" but his real name is Patrick Lilly. I was told that the TV execs felt that his surname wasn't befitting of a "Munster".

# Sandy1956 #, they've done a remake with John Schuck (sp) as Herman some years ago. I watched a few episodes and wasn't impressed. The series didn't last long if memory serves correctly.

I really don't think you could ever have a reboot because there's no way to recreate Fred Gwynne again. Fred Gwynne owned Herman Munster, and Al Lewis owned Grandpa. As much as i loved the show, I didnt like the chauvinistic nature of Herman Munster, but then again, it was the time period. The Flintstones were the same way.
