Player #48458, - Oh, come on now, Liberace was a "Showman"; no different than any of the other multitude of entertainers who put on a "Glitzy" performance. Kinda like Elton John, for example.

I pretended to play piano along with him on television and I perfected my deep bow throwing my tuxedo tails behind in a flamboyant way. Entertained my family for a little bit.

I understand that Liberace was loyal and very generous to his fans. In 1972 I was fresh out of secretarial school and working at my first job. One of my duties was to go to the post office. I remember that when the postmaster found out where I worked he told me that the secretary before me got mail from Liberace all of the time. She must have if he remembered it so.

We lived near him in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. Every Xmas, we and many others would go by his house because it was THE most elaborately decorated! Not a surprise, given his flamboyance, which was much appreciated by many!

I saw him in Spokane, Washington, during Expo '74. He did a show at the new opera house and was magnificent! I was only 19, and I developed a huge crush on him. Sigh!

My first introduction of him as a kid was from a TV show he had in the 50s. He played a black piano in a tuxedo and I thought he was wonderful. His glitzy performances didn't happen until much latter

When I was a very young girl this amazing pianist lived a few blocks from me. We used to peek into his backyard at his piano shaped swimming pool. I don’t recall ever seeing him, though, but he inspired me to learn piano.

Liberace was a success if he got you interested in Classical music. For instance, do you like YouTube > "Murray Perahia - Beethoven - Piano Sonata No 23 in F minor, Op 57"? Start by jumping ahead to 16 minutes 20 seconds, to see hands flying across the keyboard accurately. If you liked it, go back and start from the beginning.
