I have lived all over in the USA: North, South, East, West, and many places in between. Not once have I heard that saying and, believe me, I have heard a lot of them over the years. I guess I can add this to my collection of odd phrases.

it is known in the uk, it is a British phrase, although I thought it wiuks be known to English speaking people, but not Americans apparently 🤔.
