The ancient city of Knossos is on which Greek island?

How can they possibly talk of Knossos without telling the Greek myth of King Minos? It's long but one of the most famous I'll share it. You can read it or ignore it, it won't bother me either way... King Minos had a castle at Knossos & had Daedalus construct a labyrinth nearby to contain the Minotaur. Every seventh year Aegeus, King of Athens sent 14 youths to Knossos to be sacrificed to the beast, until, Aegeus' son Theseus volunteered to try to slay the Minotaur & stop the sacrifices. When Theseus arrived at the island Minos' daughter, Ariadne, fell in love with him and got a ball of twine from Daedalus for him, so he wouldn't get lost in the labyrinth. Theseus killed the Minotaur, got Ariadne, and escaped the island... but he was supposed to change his sails to white if he survived, but had been so distracted by Ariadne that he forgot. King Aegeus, had kept constant lookout for his son from a cliff. Upon seeing the sails he believed Theseus dead and threw himself into the Aegean Sea, giving it it's name. Back at Knossos, King Minos was furious upon learning of the Daedalus' role in the plot and had both Daedalus and his son Icarus imprisoned. To escape, Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings from wax and feathers, and famously warned his son not to fly too close to the sun - for it would melt the wax, nor too close to the sea - as it would soak the feathers. In the joy of flight, Icarus forgot. He drowned in the Icarian Sea, by the Greek island of Icaria.
