Women all over swooned whenever he played the piano, just like at a Beatles concert. I learned some of his pieces, including the bombastic Military Polonaise in A major, when I was in conservatory. So much emotion in his pieces. And most of them, I shall say, are really difficult both to learn and to perform.

Nice romantic story - sorta reminds me of a book or movie or something I can't recall, titled "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" - about the massacre of Native Americans by the U.S. military. Another, not so romantic, story.

He was the heart of classical music but his heart was with his home.

My favorite of all the romantic classical composers. His music is just beautiful! My favorite is his Etude in E Major Op. 10 No. 3.
