cazzza51, Being a West Australian and living in Perth I have visited Rottnest Island many times to see our native Quokka. Because they are so tame they have been subject to acts of cruelty. Thankfully now the penalties for such cruelty are very harsh

luckycatfay, because they're protected, they are quite approachable. They always look like they're smiling!

catcookie, how sad, awful that such horrid people exist. I'm glad there are now harsh penalties for those sub-humans.

They're so cute! I'd never heard of them either. Now I have another reason to visit Australia.

catcookie, I’m also a sandgroper and I, also, find the behaviour of some people horrific towards the quokka.

There is a small population on the mainland also, but sadly habitat loss and feral animal ( foxes and cats) predation had decimated them like most of our native animals

they have the habit of throwing their offspring behind them when running from a predator!
