DerfiusMaximus, If the question was 'what do they stand for' you would be right because it would mean what do the initials exactly represent. But the question is simply what do they mean so the answer is perfectly ok.

Twiekah, Guys he is right...Reread the question it does say specifically what do they mean and not what they stand for. Even still not seeing the answer you knew to be what it stood for should have made you take a 2nd look at what the question was. Although I personally hate trick questions which usually result in me reading the question too fast and often answering wrong.

DerfiusMaximus, Yeah, there is. It still means before and after noon. It didn't ask what it stood for. It asked what it means.

Please proofread your explanations. It's "meridian", not meridiam. So - technically - ALL your listed answers are wrong.

Actually, there are no such things as '12 AM' and '12PM'. Twelve is the divider between either AM or PM, much like zero is the divider between positive numbers and negative numbers.

DerfiusMaximus, what they mean and what they stand for are two different things. If I asked what they meant, someone telling me "it means ante meridian" I'd say, "well what does THAT mean?"
