Player Elf Counsel, Sounds like a good portion of British voters decided to stuff the rest of the European Union also.

Player Elf Counsel, This is incorrect. The Euro did not even exist at the time we originally joined the Common Market. It was introduced as a result of one of the amending treaties, Lisbon, Maastricht? Can't remember. Sign up was optional for existing EU countries and we eventually decided against adopting it. BTW, where's this easy and advantageous deal with the EU the Brexiteers promised would be quickly reached during the Referendum?

Little Saint, No , prior to decimalisation it was£,s, and d . The d was the designation for the penny . This I believe came from the Roman denarius which was their smallest coin, but this could’ve wrong. Technically it then went to £ and np , for new penny but this was too awkward and eventually the n was dropped to now become £ and p.

The reason it's called Sterling is because, in the past, a penny was called a Sterling. When weighed to one pound (24 pennies I think) that amount of pennies equalled a £. Hope I have explained this understandably.

Taramaiden, over half is a "good portion" whether we like it or not. If I gave you a slice of cake which was just over half, you would say that's a good portion. I think you're confusing the statement with a "good majority" which 1% isn't. It's a majority nonetheless.

Got fooled. Thought GB had switched to euro from lb. sterling. Oh well. If Brexit should succeed they won't have to switch back.
