millwallmarty, Never seen Baklava in a kebab shop. The men who sell it at one of the street market stalls here are Greek though. Only to be expected mind you - the Greeks and Turks are always at loggerheads over who Baklava actually 'belongs' to.

ElementalBurn4, Countries near each other usually share similar foods with different names. Turkey & Greece are close to each other so sharing a type of dessert isn't unusual, keeping the same name for the variations that evolved is.

docnick1, baklava is Turkish as well. Kai tourkikos einai OK. Eina xazo na malwnoume me tous tourkous gia Ena gluko. Turkish make it differently with pistachios and much more sirup.
