Which is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter?
Correct answer: A rabbit
Pegasus
Player #4123321, this tradition is far older than Christianity. It was a pagan festival long before it was taken over by the first Christians.

jblum315, The Easter bunny symbolizes new birth, new season of spring, and is associated with the vernal equinox. Rabbits and eggs represent regeneration; both physical & spiritual. Easter coincides with the resurrection of Christ, an opportunity to be born again.

Ostara was celebrated long before Christianity. It's the rebirth of the Earth, symbolized by Maiden goddesses and their totem animal, the hare. It was "appropriated" by Christianity in much the same way the Roman Saturnalia (plus a few other Soter gods' days) as it was relatively easy to get the common folk to observe. Don't believe me? Why else would Easter fall on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox?

Player #4250921, even that was stolen and christianised from the much old story of the god Mithras. I know many people don't like to hear or admit this, but so much of the Christian faith and practices were stolen / adopted from other religions / beliefs.

Easter has nothing to do with Christ. To simplify it. Easter celebrates Esther who is the goddess of fertility that’s where you get the rabbits in the eggs.
Player ninaraewln
Player #4123321, that's not true. as with all so called Christian holidays, the church adopted secular holidays and tried to clean them up. the above information is the truth.

Pegasus, thank you from all pagans for acknowledging us.

Player #12378390, Very true. Fertility was important and rabbits are, if anything, very good at reproduction. Easter Sunday is traditionally Resurrection day. Coincidentally, many people believe that Yeshua (Jesus) was born in the spring because shepherds were out with the flocks of sheep. Notice that Jesus is called the good shepherd. The rabbit, pagan fertility symbol, obviously was incorporated into Christianity to attract pagans.

RushMama2112, 100%. Birth=Fertile/Fertility=New life=Eggs=Spring. The rabbit is a widely known part of nature that reproduces in huge numbers and easily.

Jaminus Optimus, the above is all true people need to look up Christmas traditions as well because that is paganism too. Jehovah God would not appreciate lies being mixed in with his creations and his son most of all. Satan is the father of the LIE.

This is a Pagan practice adopted by Catholicism. Originally a festival for Esther the goddess of fertility. I don't believe, Christ would want to be celebrated with Pagan practice.
