Strangely enough, Cheers was based on a bar/pizza parlor in my hometown of Redlands, California. The writers used to frequent it when they attended the University of Redlands. My friends and I also frequented it at the same time. Gay 90’s Pizza , which back then in the early 1970’s we called “Gay’s”.
