luckycatfay, and then there is the tarantula wasp. Two inches long with iridescent wings. We occasionally see them here in Arizona. Fascinating creatures who bite a tarantula spider injecting a paralytic and then lay their eggs inside the comatose body. The "babies" feed from the spider.

I hate being confronted with large insects especially wasps they scare the beejeebees out of me the times I've said to myself that I won't play anymore because of it.
