I've lived In Arizona for 50 years now & I have never seen or heard of burrowing tumbleweed thorns or view blocking tumbleweeds, before they become "tumbleweeds" and they are still alive, the thorns do hurt when your're pulling them out of the ground, but once they die & start "tumbling" they are dry & brittle, actually fun to hit with your car cuz they just explode into tiny little pieces
