Do you know when I was in Italy the guide had no idea about the water battles in the Collissimo. They sell bottles of sand from the floor of the building for 15 to 20 euro. I told everyone the sand came from the river through the aquducts that send water into the arena.

No proof of sea battles at the Colosseum. They used to happen at other Amphitheatres in Rome but the Colosseum had limited drainage so would be tricky to hold these events. Up to now it's a theory as opposed to proven.
