The name "piano" accordion threw me, as I never heard it called that...just accordion. But squeezebox is a well known slang term for accordions. Tricky question.

I love the sound of this beautiful instrument and I wish I had the ability to play one. Very popular back in Italy and I have several friends who can play it well.

An accordion has buttons on both ends where a piano accordion has piano keys on one end and buttons for bass chords on the other. It may have just had it's name shortened to accordion in different places.

Sailor Blue, "Daddy doesn't sleep at night." It probably got the honky-tonk jumping when you played that one on the jukebox.

RedSeaDiver, I know how to play one. My dad taught me. Beautiful sound, I have always loved playing it, but sold mine a few years ago. Had it for 50 years.

Around these parts they known as squeeze boxes. Button squeezebox & key squeezebox. My great uncle had & played both types along with a couple more "down home" instruments.

Kat, me, too. I've only known it by that name. Now I have to ask my older brother which one he plays.
