I've actually been there, and took a dip in it! Freezing cold, can stop a heart in 10 minutes! It's also incredibly beautiful.

Eurasia is one continent whereas Europe & Asia are artificially called separate continents. Learned this in school ages ago.

I hadn't heard of it before. I see it is in the heart (close to middle) of Asia. I would have said Lake Balkhash is in the heart of Eurasia. It makes sense that the deepest lake is in the region of highest terrain change (e.g. Everest).
