I had never considered being sentimental as shallow, interesting. I feel there is pressure in society to prioritise sentimentality over logic and that logic and rational actions are the ones considered shallow.

Sentiment, like most things in society, has become politically weaponized.

Shallow, uncomplicated emotions... like fear. Certain political factions know how to manipulate people based on this.
