How many grams are there in a pound?

I always thought 28 grams was an ounce which would make the answer 448. Apparently that was an approximation since the answer was 454 making an ounce to be about 28.375 grams.

Have lived in the UK for more than 20 years - still can't get my head around pounds etc... Good to have a son that does :-)

A pound is a unit of weight. it changes with the acceleration applied to it like gravity. A kiligram is a unit of mass. It is always the same whether it is in space or on earth.

Canada went metric in the 1970s.

swish, Actually as the pound is 454 Grammys as opposed to your number of 448 you have been getting 6 Grammys extra. Not short changed at all
