Potato bugs I grew up with could also roll up in a perfect pea-size ball when messed with. We called them "Rolly-Pollys"

I remember in my Mom's garden, the bugs would get on the leaves of the potato bushes, we would pick them off and put in jars. Then Mom would put garden dust on the plants. No problem after that. The garden dust would go into the jar on the bugs, it killed them and prevented others from coming on our potatoes.
