What is the unusual feature of the axolotl among amphibians?

Still really miss Axl the Axolotl! He was weird and beautiful at the same time, I heard they are becoming endangered in the wild as we humans thought that we could use them to regenerate limbs don’t quote me on this as it may have been a rumour, all I know is that they are wonderfully interesting creatures and as with all life on Earth should be treated with respect.
