I am an expat, living in BG. Come, don't go to the tourist cities. The Bulgarians are really, really nice. They like visitors! You will be invited into their homes to share food, quizzed about your family, introduced to anyone who speaks English. Don't get drunk or do drugs. Hard because they will give you homemade wine and raika. the wine is fine, no hangover but strong. The raika is 60percent proof.
