Why does a cuckoo flap its wings loudly or imitate the cries of birds of prey?
Correct answer: To scare away the bird to which it tosses its egg

that third paragraph in particular is very weird.

Coo
I lived next to trees (in the Scottish Highlands) where the Cuckoo returned each year. The Cuckoo generally sticks to one host species. I don't understand the explanation and obsession with a bird "throwing" it's egg. I certainly witnessed no throwing just a speedy exit from the trees generally chased by very scared little birds.

Player Say what!?
Glad to read I was not the only one confused. So, does the cuckoo throw an egg into another nest like a fastball or maybe a slider?

Patricia
Almost incomprehensible, definitely laughable. Good job we all know what cuckoos actually do.
