How many edges does a cube have?

Laura, "The cube is bordered by six squares. Each square has 4 edges. So that would give you 24 edges. But joining each pair of square share edges." Even after reading that explanation and looking at a diagram, it's still hard for me to grasp.

It was hard for me. I had to think about what "edge" meant in this context.
