What are traditional Japanese ankle-high socks with a separate big toe called?

tabi, 足袋, means foot bag.

I haven't heard the term zori in a very long time. We used to purchase Zories in the 60's & 70's for 25 cents per pair made of rubber, for our walks to the beach a few blocks away. I think we started using the term flip flops when stronger materials started being used for the top in the later 70's.

Where can I find some? I love to wear flip flops but I live in Michigan.
