Modern observers have no right to criticise (comment perhaps but not criticise) his analysis of slavery, it was the basis of what allowed the Greek and Roman empires to flourish and men like him to have the time and luxury to observe think and record. It is a sad fact that, but for slavery based economies our modern world would still be fairly backward.
