k, The rules have not changed. Americans are simply uneducated in the 21st century. People who routinely say, "I seen it," "I don't know where she's at," "a whole 'nother," "return back," and "first initial," are modern-day hillbillies who can't speak their one-and-only language correctly (few Americans speak more than one language these days). It's a national disgrace.

Player #85315195, another change...we grew up w do not end a sentence with a preposition. The rules just changed..it's OK. Is this OK because so many don't use this good rule..so just ignore it?

Lionessa, well my brother put it this way. In every culture and time period, civilization keeps getting smarter and smarter and getting better and better until something happens and for whatever reason, they start “dumbing down.” I think we’re in that phase now. Sorry guys.

So grateful for this. Our English grammar stopped being taught in full as I came along (born 1956). My brother learned it all. It was dumbed-down for me. I only learned any of it because I studied other languages, where all the parts were taught intact. This is a succinct and elegant synopsis and taught me things I never learned before.
