I see them in the trees behind my house every day. Amazing colours.

Potential owners of ALL birds should be aware that they’re pretty much all messy, noisy, and need lots and lots of attention & companionship or they go loopy in captivity. I did parrot rescue for many years and believe me 90% of people are ill equipped for these little creatures

B Dog, I would never keep a bird in a cage or captivity.

B Dog, Other considerations are that most vets won't see birds, and that parrots can live to be 80+ years old. You have to put them in your will.

B Dog, you are right! My son had a Grey parrot and every day took him put of hid cage held his body and ran around the house so that he could stretch his wings and "fly"

Ewa
PerkyLin, I concur. I can't understand why people keep birds. It's inhumane.

B Dog, Yes, agreed. The famous YouTube African Grey parrot, Apollo, is a testament to the full time care that he gets from his owners. Which has paid off with learning abilities

My favorite is the pūteketeke or Australian crested grebe, just voted Bird of the Century by a landslide. 😜
