Player #25874027, There were actually no slaves in the north. This is where they ran to be free however slavecatchers from the south would come north to try to recapture them to return them for money, that's why it was abolished in all states.

I was reading on another site that the US Civil War actually only abolished slavery in the South. Slavery was not apparently ended in the North until about 1867/8 a few years after Lincoln’s death. Please correct me if this is wrong
