Maori's I thought are considered aborigines in New Zealand, thus I got a wrong answer. Aborigines are first settlers in a country not only Australia.

Kiwozzie, Not the one I read. Mitochondrial DNA (study as part of 'out of Africa ' investigation) puts them coming into what is now present day Australia about 53,000 years ago. Since then, as per the info, there has not been much mingling to the extent that west coast Aboriginal DNA is entirely different from east coast Aboriginals.

You know very well that aboriginal refers to the indigenous population of Australia. Geeze

A genomic study has revealed that Aboriginal Australians are the oldest known civilization on Earth, with ancestries stretching back roughly 75,000 years.

Calabtangan' Boyoyong, I can’t guarantee this but I think the Māori people are incomers who arrived from Polynesia several hundred years ago and supplanted the original inhabitants .
