What is nitroglycerin?

I think every knows nitroglycerine to be a powerful explosive. Clever question designed to challenge our guessing abilities on a substance we all know well. I would have liked a mention that it was better known for its explosive properties and been given more info about that too

I knew this, as my dad used to take it in the 70's for his heart issues.

PgB, I reported it because it never mentioned its explosive properties. I knew this from medical degree, but its fundamentally lacking in its original usage.
