Roxanne, I wouldnt say it's a slur it's used more like the term cajun for certain people in the deep south. Alot of people from Newfoundland, especially in the more rural areas can have a very thick accent and use alot of words/phrases completely unique to that area almost like its own language. I've lived in canada my whole life and I dont think I've ever heard it used in a negative connotation.

Canada, the USA, and Mexico should share and help each other whenever possible.
