Which of the following novels was written without using the letter "E"?
Correct answer: Gadsby (Ernest Vincent Wright)
LaContessa
I can't even imagine that! I mean, how could you write a book that doesn't even contain the word 'the'?? I have to check it out!
nimblemoon
Now that's an excellent trivia question!
OddGemini59671
There's also in French 'La Disparition' by Georges Perec, written without using the letter 'e'. And an English translation of it by Gilbert Adair, also without using the 'e'!
Xalver
Great question, I just had to look and see if there were e's in the title to find the answer.

The best factual trivia so far! Gotta pass it on

Did anyone else think that a Dr. Suess book was going to one of the choices?

Just writing this comment I am using the letter E 4 times, no 5 times, no 6 😁
DespicableFairy666
A Void by Georges Perec was also entirely devoid of the letter e in the English translation, and without a in the original French manuscript. It is an amazingly interesting novel and I highly recommend it.
JayJay
Would never have guessed 😂
Pete
The title had no "E" so I took a chance.
lisa
Maximino, different book as it says in article
RobinSong
There are apparently four accidental uses of e in it!
Srd
May be I am wrong but I have heard that letter E was used only 4 times in whole book
Даудовский
Well, at least he used "E" in the introduction! 😁
Anna C.
LaContessa, he did use the word "due."
Quizzmaster
I will try to write a single paragraph, missing it out. How hard was that?
Was particularly difficult actually.

🤔?

LaContessa, you could use the word 'thy' in its place.
Moki
LaContessa, I googled “excerpts from Gadsby” and sure enough, no e’s in the few paragraphs I read
Bororo
Francais Scott Fitzgerald
Bororo
The Great Gatsby was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Joanne
I'm guessing the title doesn't have an e in it either!
Maximino
ForgetfulLuck67700, the title itself has e letter, The Great Gatsby
Rolando
I must read the novel now! I can't imagine how difficult it must have been
Rolando
Amazing! I would have never known. 1oo% Amazing!
Dane
LaContessa, lol. I was thinking the same thing.
Marion
Player #33292972, you’ve actually used it 7 times because you used the letter itself!
DrWhat
Not the only book without the letter e in it, A Void by Georges Perec
NickyG920
I would not have thought that was possible.
Verleina
LaContessa, I'm curious too. In Portuguese there is a text where all words start with a P. It's interesting, and makes sense. But a whole book without the letter E? Very challenging.

I count 11 e’s in his intro...

Lol why would people even choose the other two options? The titles themselves contain letter ‘E’!

Player #11249894, it is a thing you can do if trying hard - and talking a bit oddly!

"...was written with out..." is incorrect. It should be "without."
