Sometimes Mother Nature can be a real witch. The finest accounting of this Hellish tragedy that I have ever rear was in Sir Edward Bullwer-Litton's The Last Days of Pompeii. Granted, it's fiction, but the physical aspects are close if not spot on, but the humanity in the fiction is rivitting
