I climbed it in 1994 and there were tadpoles in the rock pools! Quite amazing! I was 74 at the time but I respect the indigenous people and the return of the rock to the true custodians of the land.

Player Elf Counsel, do you really say "warch"? When I was there, there was a sign by the roadway that said: "If the rock is wet, it's raining; if the rock is cold, it's winter; if the rock is white, it's snowing; if the rock is hot, it's summer; if the rock is gone, it's a 🌪 tornado!"

Due to its age and the amount of time the Anangu people have lived there, Uluru is a sacred site and it is seen as a resting place for ancient spirits, giving it religious stature. Magical place.

I climbed this when I was young, in the late 70’s, about a 1/4 of the way there is a place called chicken rock, it’s where most people bail out, there was a chain you hung on to to help you reach the top, as you got higher the chain got thicker, I remember it was really windy and there is a sun dial on the top with a lot of cities around the world on it and it tells you the distance, there used to be a book you could sign too. I have a photo of my brother standing next to the sundial thing on top of the rock. There is as also a memorial area with plaques on the rock with names of people that lost their life climbing the rock.
