How many active volcanoes are there in Italy?

The question should be more specific regarding what counts as active.  Right from the start the answer could be 2 ("currently active") or 3 ("recently active"). But some define active as "erupted within 1000 years or recorded history" which would mean the answer would be 10 or 15. Personally I like the definition "currently erupting or showing signs of unrest". But that brings up Marsili, an underwater volcano which has never erupted but some warn it could erupt anytime. Which might come back around to an answer of 3.
