What is the main cause of tornadoes?

I've been in one, never want to be in another. I'm brave but not in the face of that !!!

thunderstorms are caused by sunlight's heat or lack thereof. this answer is wrong. Cold air high in the atmosphere + warm sir beneath it + humidity all combine to make storms. add wind and tornadoes can occur.

in the US: cold, high air currents come from the north, warm low air currents come from the south, gulf of Mexico. In certain circumstances they meet, the less dense warm air wants to rush up quickly, rotating like bath water down the plug and tornado is formed.

Green Machine, The tornados in California, you can seriously walk through them. Seriously no joke, you can walk through the tornadoes in Calif... They are like 6feet to 8 feet tall.. Not harmful at all.
