What is the name of this statue and where is it located?
Correct answer: Genghis Khan - Tsonjin Boldog, Mongolia
Bintheredunthat
changed the world and has more descendants than any other individual. Not sure if that's a good thing. 👹

Wow. 131 feet tall. I know the position of the horse has a meaning. If the horse is rearing (both front legs in the air) the rider died in battle. One front leg up means he was wounded in battle. If all for hooves are on the ground it means the rider died outside of battle. Some sources say Khan died from a respiratory disease. Others say he died after falling off a horse. Another source maintains he died of blood loss after being castrated by a Tangut princess.

Dunno if peeps mentioned already .. I’ve watched a documentary or two apparently it’s been discussed how he had red hair hmm couldn’t say I have proof of that but I do think it’s an amazing world that’s for sure with many many truths & civilisations prior to today. It’s most upsetting when I see any culture destroying evidence of what came before because that’s evidence our collect human history.

A fierce warrior; probably has had more descendants than anyone person could count....I wonder could that be a good thing?

I’ve been inside that statue on a trip around Mongolia - it is completely massive. Sort of ridiculous considering it’s cost in a developing nation.

Smokey Rules thanks for all the info! The statue is awesome I don’t know too much about Genghis Khan but I do know the Mongolians were proud and fearless warriors who adored their horses.

Genghis Khan and his story of conquest have a fearsome reputation in local histories. Many medieval chroniclers and modern historians describe Genghis Khan's conquests as wholesale destruction on an unprecedented scale that led to drastic population declines in some regions as a result of both mass exterminations and famine. Estimates of the number of people who died as a consequence of Genghis Khan's military campaigns range from about four million in the most conservative estimates to up to sixty million in the most sweeping historical accounts.
