I once bought an Hermes scarf in a second hand shop for two dollars. The most beautiful piece of clothing I've ever owned, and probably the most valuable.

Obvious question: Who are what was Hermes?

I was about to buy one of those big "papa san" wicker chairs at a thrift store, but another lady REALLY wanted it. She did window design for the Hermes store in NYC. So we made a deal: she bought the chair and put it in their window to drape their beautiful scarves over it, and when they changed the window, they gave it to me for free. So I never wore a Hermes scarf, but my chair did!
