Which hormone is responsible for regulating the sleep cycle?
Correct answer: Melatonin

Dorothy ,
You always have melatonin in your body. If you sometimes take it, orally, as a supplement , I suggest you ask your doctor. It is unlikely to do harm. But it is not well absorbed and does not penetrate blood-brain-barrier BBB effectively. You might be wasting money.

Insomnia can wreck your daytime life. I need more than melatonin to fall asleep at night, but I love to sleep a night away. Of course, if you exercise, you usually will sleep better.

Regularly used by airline staff ; melatonin is produced a lot by babies, but we produce less as we get older. While not a knockout - it will help you sleep if you are tired, with the plus as a natural product you dont wake up with any side effects .

it works like a dream...pun intended

I've always suffered from insomnia. The fact that I'm playing this at 3:15am can attest to that. Melatonin doesn't help, sadly.

I think it's circadian rhythm, the melatonin hormone raises to promote sleep, while several other hormones lower.

I have insomnia so I know all about taking melatonin.
