What two U.S. states border the Hoover Dam?
Correct answer: Arizona and Nevada

Montana Lady
It was a VERY dangerous job, building the Hoover Dam and many men died working on it... not all of their bodies could be recovered.
However, there was also a dog (if I recall the story properly) who showed up and made the days more tolerable for the workers, as well as other things...
The dog also perished while the dam was being built, so the dam now has a plaque for the men, as well as a seperate one in that dog's honor.

Hoosier#1mama, Please stop. No one is going to change their mind on politics in a quiz game. Relax.

take you're family to see different sights like this. the pictures are beautiful but being there in person will have a greater impact with beautiful memories. especially when you're with the ones you love.

Seven states take water from the Colorado River. Arizona, Nevada, and California use the most river water, with California taking the lion's share. In 2023, six states signed an agreement to dramatically reduce usage of Colorado River water. California was the lone holdout. The Colorado River is dry before it reaches Mexico, a country in dire need of water.

Texas Mama
Montana Lady, That is very interesting to know. Thanks for sharing that!

angelcatrom
Montana Lady, why are there down votes?

Doug
Lionessa, actually, California takes more than either of those places

Janie
GloriousThief10936, Too many corporate farms where farms should not exist as well as LA siphoning off more and more water for itself. How sad to watch this once mighty river being made smaller and smaller through more humans greed.

Blondemom
An absolute MUST when visiting Hoover Dam is to take the trail up & walk across the O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge...EPIC!

marimargo
The Colorado River provides water to 7 states Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Wyoming, and Montana. The Hoover Dam is just one of several dams along the river. California's need to seriously start water conservation. Arizona has been doing it for years.

Oops I pushed the wrong one

BlueRaven
Montana Lady, did you know that the son of the first man who fell and died also fell and died years later?? That was a little tid bit I heard some where could wrong, but found it interesting in the possibility.

Turbomama
Montana Lady is right! There’s a plaque there that has the story and pictures, part of it reads, “The Hoover Dam mascot only acted like he owned the dam, but without a doubt, he owned the hearts of its workers. The dog wandered freely around the job site; up ladders, over catwalks and through tunnels. He even rode the open-air elevator (called a skiff), and would bark at the operator when he wanted to get off.”

Spence
Nolan Void, same, it was truly amazing

You can drive on the Hoover Dam, but there is no through traffic into Nevada. I saw it once as I and my wife were on the way to Las Vegas. A beautiful sight.

Montana Lady, I’ve lived in Las Vegas since 2000 and have watched Lake Mead’s water level rapidly decline for 23 yrs, it’s a very sad thing to experience.

Yes it’s quite huge, grandiose even and had to drive over it a few times when my brother Rick passed away (in Kingman, Arizona) and I had to drive to McCarren airport in LAS more times than . . .
