It was a VERY dangerous job, building the Hoover Dam and many men died working on it... not all of their bodies could be recovered. However, there was also a dog (if I recall the story properly) who showed up and made the days more tolerable for the workers, as well as other things... The dog also perished while the dam was being built, so the dam now has a plaque for the men, as well as a seperate one in that dog's honor.

GloriousThief10936, Too many corporate farms where farms should not exist as well as LA siphoning off more and more water for itself. How sad to watch this once mighty river being made smaller and smaller through more humans greed.

The Colorado River provides water to 7 states Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Wyoming, and Montana. The Hoover Dam is just one of several dams along the river. California's need to seriously start water conservation. Arizona has been doing it for years.

Montana Lady is right! There’s a plaque there that has the story and pictures, part of it reads, “The Hoover Dam mascot only acted like he owned the dam, but without a doubt, he owned the hearts of its workers. The dog wandered freely around the job site; up ladders, over catwalks and through tunnels. He even rode the open-air elevator (called a skiff), and would bark at the operator when he wanted to get off.”
